OTT Diaries: Another Direct-To-Digital Dud

OTT Diaries: Another Direct-To-Digital Dud

Most of the direct-to-digital releases are giving an impression that the makers are aware that those films wouldn’t do well at theaters and hence opted for releasing through OTT platforms. Movies like Gulabo Sitabo and Penguin are unlikely to perform in theaters.

The latest ‘direct-to-digital’ Indian film is Sufiyum Sujathayum that is also the first ever Malayalam movie to release directly on OTT.

Even this film turned out to be a boring affair that will put the viewers patience to the test. A gorgeous looking Aditi Rao Hydari and the recent track record of Malayalam movies will draw viewers into watching Sufiyum Sujathayum.

However, it will require a lot of patience to sit through this snail paced romanced drama that has great visuals, but zero substance.

Compared to other language films, Telugu Cinema has done well with decent movies like Krishna And His Leela and Bhanumathi Ramakrishna (both streaming on Aha).

Although movies like 47 Days and Amrutharamam failed to impress, Telugu Cinema’s performance on this new platform has been decent in comparison to other language movies.
