OG Turns Blockbuster Of 2025: Yet Suffers Losses

OG Turns Blockbuster Of 2025: Yet Suffers Losses

They Call Him OG emerged as the biggest blockbuster of the year, creating immense buzz even before its release.

The film’s overseas performance was phenomenal, earning massive profits since rights were sold long before the hype took off.

Distributors in international markets benefited greatly from their early investments, as the film’s reception exceeded expectations.

In contrast, the domestic market saw mixed results. Nizam rights were sold at record-breaking prices, well beyond Pawan Kalyan’s regular market value, but the film managed to reach breakeven thanks to extraordinary hype and unprecedented ticket rates.

However, buyers in Andhra and Ceded regions faced heavy losses despite decent occupancy and high ticket prices. The massive pre-release investments proved impractical, leading to a 20–30% loss in these territories.

Adding to the challenge, the release of Kantara Chapter 1 significantly affected OG’s box office run. With four new films slated for Diwali, OG’s chances of recovering further look bleak.

Despite its blockbuster status in reputation and overseas numbers, the film remains a financial setback in several key regions.
