No bail for Pinnelli brothers in double-murder case

No bail for Pinnelli brothers in double-murder case

The Andhra Pradesh high court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail petition of former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and his brother Pinnelli Venkatarami Reddy in connection with the alleged double-murder of Telugu Desam Party leaders in May this year.

The case pertains to the murders of Javishetty Venkateswarlu and Javishetty Koteshwar Rao, TDP leaders from Gundlapadu village in Veldurthi mandal of Macherla constituency, Palnadu district on May 24, 2025.

Based on a complaint lodged by Thota Anjaneyulu, a relative of the deceased and an eyewitness, police registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

The accused were listed as: A1 – Javishetty Srinu alias Bobbili, A2 – Thota Venkataramaiah, A3 – Thota Guravaiah, A4 – Dongari Nagaraju, A5 – Thota Venkateswarlu, A6 – Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, and A7 – Pinnelli Venkatarami Reddy.

During the hearing on August 21, state advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas, appearing for the police, argued that there is strong evidence of the brothers’ involvement. He alleged that Pinnelli brothers had conspired and instigated the murders.

“They met at a restaurant to plan the killings and were in constant phone contact with the assailants. There is technical and call record evidence to prove this. They also promised political support to the prime accused for the sarpanch election,” the advocate general said.

He told the court that in order to uncover the facts, the former MLA and his brother must be taken into custody and interrogated.

“They are financially and politically influential, and granting bail could impact the investigation,” the AG stated.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Venuturumalli Gopalakrishna Rao reserved the verdict. On Friday, the judge pronounced its order and dismissed their anticipatory bail petitions.
