After facing a series of flops, Kiran Abbavaram bounced back strongly with “Ka” last year.
The film, which released during the Diwali season in 2024 amidst stiff competition, went on to emerge as a surprise hit.
Riding on that sentiment, Kiran chose to release “K-Ramp” during Diwali this year as well, even though three other films hitting theatres the same weekend.
Confident that the film’s comedy would connect with audiences, he stuck to his strategy. And once again, the Diwali sentiment worked in his favour.
Though “K-Ramp” had a modest opening day, its collections picked up significantly on Sunday and sustained strong numbers on Monday, the festival day.
Mass centres in particular are reporting solid footfalls, confirming that Kiran’s gamble has paid off.
However, it’s also important to acknowledge that K-Ramp’s success came with a fair share of luck.
Had competing releases like Telusu Kada been more entertaining, the outcome could have been different. The second-half comedy sequences are what truly salvaged the film.
Still, Kiran Abbavaram has every reason to celebrate.
Despite his previous film Dilruba failing at the box office, he managed to regain the audience’s attention and draw them to theatres yet again.
