Keerthy Suresh once said that Thalapathy Vijay is her favourite dancer, a comment she made long ago when asked to choose between Vijay and megastar Chiranjeevi.
While the remark had faded from public memory, it has resurfaced unexpectedly.
During a promotional event in Hyderabad for her upcoming film “Revolver Rita,” a journalist questioned Keerthy about why she had chosen Vijay over Chiranjeevi.
Keerthy calmly responded, explaining that she has immense admiration for Chiranjeevi and that he is well aware of her fandom.
She recalled how they often spoke about his films while working together on “Bholaa Shankar.”
However, the journalist continued to press her, insisting that her choice was wrong since Chiranjeevi is considered a trendsetter in dance.
Keerthy found herself in a tricky spot — retracting her earlier statement might upset Vijay’s fans, while defending it further could annoy Chiru’s admirers. Yet, she offered apologies to Chiranjeevi for her comment.
This incident highlights a larger issue: actors have their own personal preferences, and choosing one star over another should not be viewed as disrespectful.
Media and journalists must understand that admiration is subjective, and liking one performer does not diminish another.
