Director Ritesh Rana earned a name for himself with quirky entertainers, and he has teamed up again with Satya for a unique action-comedy entertainer, Jetlee.
Interestingly, the story was conceived back in 2020 during the COVID period, but due to various reasons, it has materialized only now.
In fact, Ritesh Rana initially planned to make the film with another hero.
“We wanted to make it a thriller with a touch of humor. The entire film takes place inside a flight, which itself is an experiment. Some felt it might not be the right time for such an attempt. Later, I felt Satya would be perfect for it. After Mathu Vadalara, I had the budget and market scope, so we reshaped the character to suit him.”
Clarifying the title, the director said, “There’s an actor named Jet Li, and since the story happens on a jet, we felt Jetlee would be an interesting and catchy title.”
Ritesh, a big fan of Chiranjeevi, had earlier included a Megastar song in Mathu Vadalara 2, with Satya recreating his moves, which worked very well.
“The film actually begins with a frame of Chiranjeevi. I’ve referenced him in my previous films as well, and that continues here too.”
The director also revealed that two key sequences required four months of CGI work.
“We shot those portions first and used the remaining time for post-production. They have come out very stylish.”
Ritesh Rana further shared that he plans to make a sequel to Jetlee if the film performs well.
