Music director Devi Sri Prasad seems to be slowly steering his career in a different direction with the choices he is making lately.
Recently, he surprised many by stepping into a lead role with the film “Yellamma,” which is yet to release. While the move has generated curiosity, it has also raised questions about whether his focus is gradually shifting from music to acting.
Composing songs is one thing, but scoring background music demands a great deal of patience, time, and deep involvement in the filmmaking process.
Many observers feel that DSP currently appears less oriented toward that demanding side of music composition. This perception may have contributed to some recent developments in the industry.
He was earlier sidelined from the background score of “Pushpa 2,” and now even the background score work for “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” has reportedly been handed over to Thaman. It should be noted that for both the film DSP has scored music only for the songs.
These decisions have fueled discussions within film circles, with some saying that DSP might be approaching the fag end of his career as a leading music composer.
