There was no official name mentioned, but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s fiery post on X made it clear: an actress had crossed a line — violating an unsaid NDA and allegedly “putting down a younger actor.”
The outburst, fans believe, was aimed at Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, who recently walked out of Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit.
Known for his unfiltered opinions, Vanga wrote: “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?”
He added, “You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it... Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames.”
Though Vanga didn’t name anyone, insiders confirm his post followed Deepika’s quiet exit from Spirit, which stars Prabhas and is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Pranay Reddy Vanga. Triptii Dimri, who starred in Animal, has now replaced Deepika.
According to reports, Deepika allegedly requested a 6-hour workday cap and additional compensation beyond 100 shooting days. She and her agency sought contract amendments, leading to creative differences that reportedly ended in Vanga asking her to opt out.
The actor, who became a mother in 2023, has long advocated for mental health and work-life balance, which may explain her conditions. Still, her association with Vanga — whose previous films (Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, Animal) have faced criticism for misogyny — had raised eyebrows among her fans.
The situation became more public when Vanga announced Dimri as the new female lead, with the actor expressing her excitement on social media.
Deepika, known for maintaining composure during controversies, has yet to publicly respond.
Spirit is a cop action drama led by Prabhas and was set to reunite him with Deepika after Kalki 2898 AD. The fallout adds another controversial chapter to Vanga’s filmography — and raises questions about professionalism, boundaries, and what gets aired in public.
