Mythri Movie Makers, one of the leading production houses in South Indian cinema, seems to have run into legal trouble once again over music rights.
The company, which recently forayed into Tamil films, was earlier sued by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja for using his songs without authorization in the Ajith-starrer “Good Bad Ugly.”
The court ruled in the composer’s favor, awarding him Rs 5 crore in compensation.
Now, Mythri’s latest Tamil film “Dude,” starring Pradeep Ranganathan, has sparked another dispute.
Ilaiyaraaja has filed a case against Sony Music for allegedly using two of his old compositions in the film. The court has admitted the case for hearing.
If the allegations are proven, the “Dude” team may once again have to pay compensation to Ilaiyaraaja.
