Nandamuri Balakrishna has reached yet another pinnacle in his illustrious career, receiving one of the highest honors from the World Book of Records.
The organization inducted him into its prestigious Gold Edition, celebrating his remarkable 50-year journey as a hero in Indian cinema. The grand felicitation ceremony took place today amidst an audience of esteemed guests, family, and close associates.
In a heartfelt speech, Balakrishna reflected on his journey, citing the influence of his father, Padma Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, and recalling his debut at age 13 with Tatamma Kala.
NBK paid tribute to the diversity of his roles, from saints and kings to common men and warriors, across 110 films spanning mythological epics, historical dramas, folklore, and contemporary social messages.
Balakrishna spoke about cinema's power to inspire and serve, emphasizing his commitment to using his platform for societal good, which extended into his roles as MLA and chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital. He expressed deep gratitude to his directors, co-stars, technicians, and above all, his audience and family who sustained him through five decades of cinematic excellence.
Recalling moments from landmark films like Aditya 369, India’s first sci-fi movie, and announcing plans for a sequel, he touched on personal sacrifices, including time away from his children, and the unwavering support of his wife, Vasundhara.
“I feel content that I’ve lived a life of purpose—a life devoted to cinema, culture, and public service. This honour is not mine alone. It belongs to everybody—my directors, producers, co-actors, and technicians, who have stood with me. And it belongs to my audience, who, for 50 years, have lifted me higher with their love. It belongs to my family, who have been my anchor, and to my father and mother, whose blessings continue to guide me.”
Balakrishna pledged to continue serving cinema and society, expressing heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to his journey.
