The new theatrical releases are stopped. The situation is back to square one like that of last year. Now the direct-OTT-release season has started again.
The first film in the second hibernation is 'Thankyou Brother' starring Anasuya in the lead role.
Initially the exclusive Telugu OTT platform Aha has planned to venture into theatrical distribution with this film. The platform has bought the first copy rights of the film as well. It was planned to release the film in the last week of April.
But now due to the second wave of the corona pandemic, the theatrical release is halted. Many of the theatres are closed. Second shows are completely closed due to night curfew. Already 50% occupancy norms are being followed. Adding to the woes, the family audience are also not turning up to the theatres.
At this juncture, Aha is releasing the movie directly on OTT ignoring the theatrical idea. The release date will be announced in a day or two.
