Film workers to get 20% share in ticket fare hike?

If Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy has his way, film workers, who have been demanding adequate remuneration for their labour during the shootings, will get 20% of the profits earned by the films through ticket fare hike in the first week or 10 days of the release.

This was announced by the chief minister during a felicitation ceremony organized by the Telangana Film Workers Federation at Yousufguda Police Grounds on Monday.

“My government will give permission to film makers to increase the ticket prices in the first few days and screen special shows with high ticket prices, only if they give 20% of the income through increased ticket prices to the film industry workers,” Revanth Reddy said.

The chief minister announced an ambitious plan to transform Hyderabad into a global hub for film production, pledging substantial welfare measures for film industry workers and incentives to attract international projects.

He said the government would establish a Rs 10 crore Film Workers Welfare Fund and allocate land for housing and a dedicated workers’ building.

“We will ensure that Hollywood productions are shot in Ramoji Film City and Hyderabad. Our government will do everything possible for the welfare of film workers,” Revanth Reddy declared, drawing loud applause from industry representatives.

He also promised land allotment for the construction of a Film Workers’ Bhavan and free education for children of film industry workers through corporate-level schools.

Revanth Reddy also assured to create practice and training facilities for fighters and technicians at the upcoming Bharat Future City.

“A meeting with film associations in late November to address all pending issues,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said that his government aims to make Hyderabad a world-class cinema destination on par with global film capitals.

“After Telangana was formed, there were no film awards for ten years. We revived the awards in the name of Gaddar to honour our artists. My dream is to see Hyderabad recognized globally for film excellence — just as it already is for IT and pharma,” he added.
