Frustrated with the lack of transparency in the Telugu film industry, producer Dil Raju has proposed implementing a systematic and reliable box office tracking mechanism modeled after the American Rentrack (now known as Comscore) system.
He believes such a system would curb the widespread inflation of box office numbers and provide accurate data to stars and filmmakers, many of whom are currently misled by exaggerated figures.
Dil Raju revealed that he has submitted the proposal to the Telugu Film Chamber, emphasizing that this system could eliminate manipulation and bring much-needed accountability.
He also criticized the growing obsession with YouTube views for trailers and teasers, calling it a distraction from real audience feedback and actual theatrical performance.
While Bollywood attempted a similar model in the past without much success, Raju remains optimistic about its feasibility in the Telugu industry.
