Two of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt, are once again at the center of an online storm.
While the actresses have always maintained that they share a warm bond, fans often pit them against each other.
The latest controversy erupted after American clothing giant Levis announced Alia Bhatt as their new global brand ambassador, a role previously held by Deepika Padukone.
The announcement, made on Friday, sparked outrage among Deepika’s fans, many of whom took to social media to express disappointment and anger.
Some demanded to know why the Piku star was replaced, while others accused Alia of “stealing” Deepika’s position.
One irate user wrote, “You take everything away from Deepika,” while another commented, “Why her? We want Deepika back. We need Deepika, not Alia.” Another fan bluntly declared the replacement as “definitely off.”
Others praised Deepika while slamming the brand’s decision.
“Congratulations, but the way Levi’s denim looks on Deepika is UNPARALLELED!!” wrote one fan. Another vented frustration at Alia, saying, “She’s so hungry and jealous of everything. Why is she so obsessed with Deepika? We are tired of seeing her repetitive face again and again.”
While neither actress has commented on the online backlash, the move has clearly reignited the Deepika vs. Alia debate, with many of Deepika’s loyal fans calling the decision unfair and labeling Alia “jealous” and “insecure.”
