Coolie is the movie whose trailer has received surprisingly negative feedback. Somehow, audience expectations seem to differ, and the early criticism is compelling the makers to consider cutting another impactful trailer before its release on August 14.
A similar situation occurred with Prabhas' Salaar, where the first trailer received mixed reactions, but the second trailer helped change the sentiment. It remains to be seen if Coolie can do the same.
Coming to the numbers, Coolie was bought for Rs 30 crore in the USA. To break even, it requires a total collection of 8 million dollars. For the premieres alone, the film needs over 2.5 million dollars, but current trends indicate it may end up between 1.5 to 2 million dollars.
Unless a major push happens - whether through a better trailer, a hit song, or another promotional element - the film could become risky not only for the USA buyers but also for Telugu buyers, as the Andhra-Telangana rights were acquired for Rs 50 crore.
Additionally, the Wednesday release pattern adds more uncertainty. If the film clicks, it could be a major success. But if it fails, theatres may empty by Friday, much like what happened with Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
We will have to wait and see what lies ahead for this film.
