Box Office Review: Poor Performance In January 2022

Exactly a year ago in January 2021, Ravi Teja's Krack was released and scored a big hit. But Jan 2022 couldn't bestow any such success to the box office. Nothing could withstand as box office hit in January including the Sankranthi releases. So for the two consecutive years Sankranthi season closed on dull note.

This year's Tollywood box office started with Induvadana and Asha Encounter. Both turned out to be miserable flops as the audience didn't bother about those films.

As RRR, Radhe Shyam and Bheemla Nayak were postponed to Summer owing to pandemic fears, the small films came forward to release for Pongal. In this bunch Atidhi Devo Bhava, 1945 and Veyi Subhamulu Kalugu Neeku were released.

Adi Sai Kumar disappointed the box office again with Athidhi Devo Bhava. Rana's 1945 was not at all in discussion and the result was obvious. 'Veyi Subhamulu Kalugu Neeku' of Shivaji Raja's son was also a flop.

Then Rowdy Boys, Super Macchi and Bangarraju were released on Sankranthi. Despite being a multi starrer film Bangarraju couldn't cash in on the advantage of Sankranthi. It couldn't stand up as blockbuster though it worked well in AP. It failed in Naizam and Overseas. On a whole it proved to be above average film.

After Sankranthi, the films like Uniki, Vadhu Katnam and Good Luck Sakhi were released. It was only Good Luck Sakhi that released with some expectations when compared with the other two just for the reason of Keerthy Suresh. But the film declared to be a disaster on the first day itself.

The first month of 2022 ended up on a dull note.

In February the films like Adavallu Meeku Joharlu, Khiladi and Samanyudu are coming up. We have to see if any one of these films gives some oxygen to the box office.
