Popular comedian and actor Praveen steps into the lead role in the upcoming Telugu film Bakasura Restaurant, directed by debutant S J Shiva.
The film also stars Viva Harsha in the titular role, with Krishna Bhagavan, Shining Phani, and KGF’s Garuda Ram in key parts.
Produced by Lakshmayya Achari and Janardhan Achari under the SJ Movies banner, the film has completed shooting and is gearing up for release.
Touted as a “hunger comedy entertainer,” the trailer of Bakasura Restaurant was officially launched on Friday by director Maruthi, who graced the event as chief guest.
Speaking at the launch, Praveen expressed gratitude: “Bakasura Restaurant is coming soon, and I’m thrilled that Maruthi garu released the trailer. His film Prema Katha Chitram was instrumental in my early career, and I’m thankful for his continued support.”
Director Maruthi said, “The title Bakasura Restaurant itself is a winner—it’s catchy and gives off a fun vibe. I’ve always wanted to see Praveen in a lead role, and I’m confident this film will be a defining one in his career. I wish the entire team great success.”
Producer Janardhan Achari added, “When director Shiva narrated the story, I immediately liked it and felt Praveen was the perfect fit. Each actor has brought their character to life. Garuda Ram’s role will also be a highlight. We believe the audience will appreciate the film’s unique tone.”

The ensemble cast includes Praveen, Viva Harsha, Shining Phani (Bamchik Bunty), KGF Garuda Ram, Krishna Bhagavan, Srikant Iyengar, Uppena Jayakrishna, Vivek Dandu, Amar, Ram Patas, Ramya Priya, Prachi Thakur, and Jabardasth Apparao.
Key technicians include Bala Saraswathi (cinematography), Marthand K. Venkatesh (editing), and Vikas Badisa (music).
Vinay Kotti serves as executive producer, with art direction by Sri Raja CR Thangala. The film’s PROs are Eluru Srinu and Maduri Madhu.
