Despite strong pre-release buzz, Anushka Shetty’s highly anticipated action drama Ghaati failed to make the expected impact at the box office on its opening day in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Given the film’s scale and star power, trade circles had anticipated a strong turnout. However, Ghaati managed to collect only around ₹2 crore net across the two Telugu states on Day 1 — a figure considered disappointing for a project of this magnitude.
Directed by Krish, the film marks Anushka’s reunion with him after their critically acclaimed Vedam.
The narrative focuses on the struggles of the Ghaatis, tribal forest dwellers renowned for carrying heavy loads and surviving the challenges of rivers and mountainous terrains.
Trade experts caution that the film must build momentum over the weekend if it is to move into the safe zone.
