The disappointing result of The Raja Saab has come as a setback for Prabhas and his fans.
Expectations were high, with many hoping the star would score a hat-trick of pan-Indian blockbusters after the massive success of Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD, which together grossed nearly Rs 1,800 crore worldwide.
However, The Raja Saab is likely to end its theatrical run below Rs 200 crore, making it a major commercial failure.
Prabhas appears to have acknowledged the misstep and was quick to lift the morale of his fan base by officially announcing the release date of his next big project, Spirit.
While another film, Fauji, is also currently on the sets, fan excitement is clearly higher for Spirit. This is largely due to director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s strong pan-Indian popularity, second only to SS Rajamouli in the current landscape.
Prabhas has now officially confirmed that Spirit will release on March 5, 2027, locking in its date well in advance and signaling his renewed focus on strong, content-driven projects.
So, when can fans expect Fauji? According to sources, director Hanu Raghavapudi is planning to wrap up shooting by March or April this year.
The makers are aiming for a release around Independence Day, as the film’s theme, centered on the Indian freedom struggle and an alternative historical narrative, suits the occasion perfectly.
If the Independence Day window is missed, the film could arrive before the Dasara holidays. Either way, Fauji is expected to release later this year.
With Spirit and Fauji now strategically slotted, Prabhas seems to have charted a clear and calculated path forward after the setback of The Raja Saab.
