The most anticipated magnum opus with Prabhas in the main lead is Adipurush. The teaser of the film has seen the light today. Surprisingly this is receiving flak from all corners.
It is needless to say that the audience who got acclimatized to conventional way of watching Ramayana may find it insipid. But how the young audience it makes all the difference.
If this is how the new age young audience should be introduced to Ramayana, then that is a different debate.
The teaser starts with Lord Rama meditating underwater when the demons approach him.
He aims his arrows at them while Ravan is introduced with the horizontal lines on his forehead indicating his devotion for Lord Shiva.
We also see him showing off his 10 heads to a woman sitting at his feet. He rides on a fictitious creature. Then we see the shot of Lord Rama with his army walking on Ram Setu
The film seems to be made with excessive VFX on the lines of Thor and other digital fantasies. This kind of making may give an unrealistic and unbelievable image to Ramayana on a whole.
Adipurush is Om Raut’s follow-up project to his 2020 blockbuster movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
Adipurush is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-series, Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles. The movie is slated to be released in theatres on January 12, 2023 in IMAX and 3D.
Prabhas has previously been seen in SS Rajamouli's Baahubali movies, Saaho and Radhe Shyam. His upcoming movies also include Salaar and a film with Deepika Padukone.
Saif last worked with Om Raut in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. His latest release is Vikram Vedha with Hrithik Roshan. Kriti Sanon also has Bhediya apart from Adipurush.
