2020 Roundup: Top Hits At The Box Office

1. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo: This Allu Arjun starrer directed by Trivikram and bankrolled by Allu Aravind – S. Radhakrishna has set the box office on fire.

The film registered staggering collections at the ticket windows and has set a Non-Baahubali industry record in terms of box office returns.

It collected around Rs 150 Cr distributor share leaving a huge gap between the other Non-Baahubali highest grossing films.

Trivikram’s proven family drama has been elevated to another level with Allu Arjun’s performance and Thaman’s blockbuster album.

Three songs from the film have set records on YouTube with two of the songs featuring in most viewed music videos of YouTube’s 2020 records.

2. Sarileru Neekevvaru: Anil Ravipudi played to his strengths by presenting Mahesh Babu in a mass avatar after many years.

The film has struck a chord with the masses and has collected over Rs 110 Cr distributor share thus placing it in one of the highest grossing Telugu films of all time.

Mass comedy and Mahesh Babu’s charisma played a huge role in making this a hit at the box office. Anil Sunkara bankrolled the film and DSP scored the music.

3. Bheeshma: This Nithin’s starrer avoided clash with the Sankranthi biggies and hit the screens in February. The film directed by Venky Kudumula has ended the flop streak of Nithin.

Sithara Entertainments scored another box office hit with this rom-com as Rashmika Mandanna registered back to back hits in consecutive months placing her in the big league of female leads.

4. HIT: This crime thriller bankrolled by Nani got the thumbs up from the genre fans and has done reasonably well at the ticket windows. Vishwak Sen played the lead role in this fine thriller directed by Sailesh Kolanu.

Tollywood started the year on a high, but was struck by the pandemic as there was no single notable theatrical release for ten months.

Solo Brathuke So Better that released on Christmas Day opened on a grand note and has instilled faith in theatrical business despite the restrictions in place.
