Spyder's Master Plan Goes Horribly Wrong!

Makers of Mahesh Babu's Spyder didn't sell the distribution rights earlier in spite of high demand.

They deliberately put every deal on hold so that they could quote high prices when the hype builds to unprecedented levels. However, this plan has gone horribly wrong because of the implementation of GST.

Buyers are not willing to risk too high with the new tax system as it will be practically impossible to recover their investment if the film fails to click.

With third parties and exhibitors turning skeptical about spending high, distributors are not coming forward to bet big on any film irrespective of the star cast and expectations on it.

Earlier Spyder was estimated to fetch around Rs. 90 crore from Telugu states for its theatrical rights, but now it is likely to close around Rs. 75 crore.

Even buyers who have shown a lot of interest in distributing the film have backed out after GST rolled out.

On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan’s film with Trivikram was sold for high prices as the producer closed the deals much before the implementation of GST.
