The final verdict on Nithiin’s Thammudu is out — and it’s a massive disappointment. The film has turned out to be the biggest flop of Nithiin’s career.
While his recent films like Macharla Niyojakavargam, Extra Ordinary Man, and Robinhood also failed at the box office, the dismal performance of Thammudu has come as a shock to both the actor and the producers.
The film reportedly earned only around ₹3 to ₹4 crore in theatrical revenue.
Although the OTT rights fetched a decent amount, it wasn’t enough to offset the production cost, which is estimated at around ₹70 crore. As a result, the film is expected to incur losses of ₹35 – 40 crore.
Producer Dil Raju, along with his partner Shirish, had already faced setbacks with the much-delayed Game Changer.
While they managed to recover some losses with the success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, the failure of Thammudu now adds another significant financial strain.
Industry observers have begun to question Dil Raju’s judgment, pointing out that many of his recent choices have not yielded the expected results.
Some even argue that the success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam was more a stroke of luck than the outcome of solid planning.
