After Disaster, Producer Rejects Rs 100 Cr Pitch

After Disaster, Producer Rejects Rs 100 Cr Pitch

For this producer, investing ₹100 crore is not a big deal. He has done it before. He entered Tollywood like a wave and has been making films continuously. Though he has delivered more flops than hits, he is still active and producing films.

Recently, a director approached him with a pan-India story. The producer liked the story. But the moment the director revealed the budget, he immediately said no. The reason? The director quoted a budget of ₹100 crore.

As mentioned earlier, spending ₹100 crore is not new for this producer. However, he recently faced a major setback. A big-budget film with a star hero turned out to be a huge disaster.

More than the failure of the film, what hurt him most was the alleged cheating by people he trusted during the making of the film. In such a situation, hearing a ₹100 crore budget naturally made him reject the proposal.

On the other hand, sources close to the producer say the film does not actually require such a huge budget. They claim the director may have exaggerated the cost.

Industry talk is that approaching a producer in a weak phase itself was the director’s first mistake. Quoting such a massive budget became his second mistake.
