The telecast of “exclusive” visuals of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences at Puttaparthi showing the atmosphere outside the Intensive Care Unit, where Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba has been undergoing, by some television channels created an embarrassing situation for the government.
Though the inner visuals could not show the condition of Satya Sai Baba, the fact that some body could go in and shoot the atmosphere outside the ICU itself shows the carelessness of the hospital authorities and the police. The visuals show how the police were moving freely along the corridor and how volunteers of Satya Sai Seva Dal were relaxing outside the ICU; they clearly show that there was no tense atmosphere in the hospital and that Baba was stable and safe.
In fact, the entire town of Puttaparthi is virtually under the siege of the police. The hospital surroundings have been fortified with more than 4,000 heavily-armed special police forces. Not a single soul is being allowed to anywhere near the hospital, where Baba is being provided with the world’s best possible medicare. Barricades were put up everywhere and a thorough screening of every person approaching the hospital was being done.
So, who could have dared to take the visuals of the inside of hospital? The hospital authorities suspect that it could be the mischief of one of the doctors who came from Hyderabad to treat Baba and he might have switched on his mobile camera to shoot the whole thing. But health secretary P V Ramesh, who is personally supervising Baba’s health, ruled out the possibility, as the doctors deposit their mobiles near the security before entering the hospital.
Channels said they got the exclusive visuals from a devotee of Sai. He must be definitely a VIP among the devotees, but, he, too, might not have gone inside the ICU. In any case, the episode broke the veil of security in the hospital.
