Two-year old Mahesh, who fell into an open borewell at Chandru tanda in Warangal district, was brought out dead after hectic rescue operations for nearly 24 hours.
The rescue teams from Singareni Collieries could not save the life of the boy, as he apparently died of asphyxiation and lack of food for 24 hours. The boy was caught 30-ft deep inside the borewell and oxygen is being pumped in an effort to save his life proved futile.
The rescue teams had to face a lot of difficulties in digging a pit parallel to the 30-ft-deep borewell due to rocky earth. , official sources said. They needed a rock-breaker to remove the rocks that came in the way while digging the parallel pit.
The parents of Mahesh cried inconsolably. So did the anchors of various television channels who have been telecasting the trauma for the last 24 hours.
