Sex appeal of heroines on Telugu screen has been changing from time to time. In olden days Savitri and Jamuna entertained the people only with their faces. Krishna Kumari in those days itself ruled the hearts of people with her total figure. In later years, heroines' figure turned a vital factor for success. Jayaprada, Sreedevi, Radha, Rajani, Vijayashanthi and many have become popular with their faces as well as figures. But what is the plight of heroines now-a-days? Here is a focus light on the opinions of a few people.
"I don't understand if I lost the channels of relishing beauty due to my growing age or the heroines of today have no charm. I used to enjoy a lot watching Sridevi, Jayaprada, Rajani, Radha and Vani Viswanath in my child hood and early teens. But now I find no heroine looking hot like them", says a 32 year old software engineer.
"Heroines of today are over consciousness about their growing weight but are completely ignoring the basic figure that is required for them to attract men. Watch Ileana, Sada, Shriya or Genelia. They have no great feminine assets but simply look like squeezed out bananas. They have only skin but no 'flesh' that is required at various places. There is no boost for the testosterone of many men while watching these heroines. In fact the guys in early teens will be over sensitive looking at any girl. But about 15 years back the heroines used to entertain all age groups from 11 to 70. Satyajit Rey also announced that he has never seen a beautiful lady like Jayaprada in his life. But today we have no such heroine who is getting great applause in that echelon", said Narayana, a banker.
"I like Jayaprada and Sridevi. Ramya Krishna also is the best. And today Sneha is ok to some extent. But the other lean heroines are purposeless, I feel", says Ramani, a teacher.
"Sari made the yester years' heroines look sexier. But today we don't understand what the heroines are wearing. Sometimes they are wearing neither pants, nor shorts, nor swimsuits. They look completely different with complete skin show. At the same time they don't pump in any required heat that lasts longer", said a Telugu film lover.
"Today's Telugu heroines are north Indians. They can be projected in right way in sexy manner if they add on some weight to their bodies. Fair skin is their major asset. But on a whole the local charm and Telugu native beauty is lacking in the heroines", says Aparna a graduate student.
On a whole it appears that there is some dissatisfaction among crowds looking at today's heroines. Will there be some change in that!
