A very practical theory on relationships is that apart from family, any relationship outside that between a man and woman usually ends up in a gray area.
Though there are many lines to it, physical gestures are something which conveys a lot to the opposite person. Such aspects get even more sensitive when they are from a woman towards a man.
Right now, the Telugu film industry is going through a transition of sorts in terms of its greeting culture. There was a time when ladies of cine world used to do Namaskaram to their male counterparts which was quite traditional and respectful.
Eventually, it grew into shaking hands which became a bit on the modern side and rather professional. Well, things would have been much better if it had stayed that way but thanks to Bollywood culture and our immature approach in aping them in every aspect, the latest trend is hugging. Off late, many instances are being quoted where females keep hugging their males as a form of greeting and this is causing a concern.
However, there are those who say that when role models of society like Nita Ambani can get a big bear hug from Harbhajan Singh, what’s the big deal in we doing it. What we fail to understand is that this is quite a common thing for the Bollywood folks given their cosmopolitan upbringing and environment.
Here, it’s a new thing and many are excited. Some hardcore practical men say “who will say no when a beautiful girl wants to give a hug?” so they are busy enjoying the warmth. While this might sound appealing and convincing, the bare truth is that such a culture sure is spreading a wrong signal and perhaps the day is not far when male and females in Tollywood will start greeting each other with French kisses and smooches. That way they may intoxicate the society as well.
