The year 2021 gave mixed results to the Telugu film industry.
The USA box office took many months to bounce back. Comedy entertainer “Jathi Rathnalu” was the only Telugu film that crossed million dollars in the first half of 2021.
It was the second half of 2021 that gave new hope to Telugu films.
“Love Story”, “Akhanda”, “Pushpa”, “Shyam Singha Roy”, “Most Eligible Bachelor”, and “Varudu Kaavelenu” minted good money in the last three months.
“Krack” and “Upeena” were blockbusters in the domestic Indian market, but they could not attract Telugu audiences in the USA.
Similarly, Pawan Kalyan’s “Vakeel Saab” performed badly. The Telugu audiences have shown interest to throng the theaters only in the latter half of the year.
