Well, consider a situation wherein the Telangana state is really formed. It doesn’t end with passing a resolution in the assembly and a bill in the parliament. The real work starts once that is done. In view of that, many level headed intellectuals and practical analysts have predicted that this would be a Herculean task which is next to impossible they add.
Apparently, if a state has to be formed then separate responsibilities have to be assigned. Separate establishments like High Court, Assembly, Secretariat has to be created. A totally new infrastructure has to be created which no other city apart from Hyderabad has got. Before that, there are huge funds required for coming up with such an infrastructure.
The state has been running in huge debts since long so that is a bit far fetched. Also, the idea of having a common capital may not work due to geographical reasons and Andhra people won’t allow Hyderabad to be part of Telangana since their entire properties and assets are deep rooted in the capital city. Also, their families and generations of kids have been here.
On top of it, the separate Telangana state would have to take up all new responsibilities and this would require a new set of leaders, most importantly bureaucrats, employees from this region.
One Mr Ramesh, a retired lecturer and proper Telangana resident said “KCR is no leader, nor is he a statesman. He is nothing but a crooked politician and if the people of Telangana think that under his leadership, the separate state would bloom, they are digging their own grave.”.
Another view from Dr Sowjanya was “Emotions, rush of impulses and instigating hot blooded students to create a separate state is not creating history, if KCR wants his name in golden letters, he should have worked for the development of any one district under Telangana, why didn’t he do that?”.
Overall, the feel is that if Telangana is to arrive, then it will turn out to be like the animal in the picture which will dangle in mid air unable to know what to do next. Do we really want such a situation!
