Telanagana Food Festival at the recently started hotel ’45 Jubilee Hills’ on Road No-45 has been in publicity from the last one week. KCR, Vijayashanthi et al have graced the hotel and enjoyed the buffet lunch where the Telangana dishes were placed. Many say that Harish Rao has a share in the hotel.
Even many Andhra and Rayalaseema people have come for the hotel to enjoy buffet lunch. Almost everyone has noticed one interesting thing. All the items placed in Food Festival are not exclusively from Telanagana. Many were brought from North India and also pulled a few dishes from Coastal Andhra as well. Some reported that Telangana people cannot complete their food without the dishes from Coastal AP.
“I don’t understand the uniqueness about Telangana food festival. I have noticed a few interesting names like Boda Kakarakaya Koora, Attutunakala Fry, Garela Pulusu, Pulla Kanda vepudu those are really good and rare. But there are other dishes like golichana mamsam (golichana means ‘fried’ in Telangana) that tastes same as mutton fry but the name sounds different. Mukkala pulusu, pachchi pulusu, pulihora, vadiyalu, gongura pachchadi and avakaya (Andhrula pachchallu) are adopted from coastal Andhra. I understood Telangana food cannot be completed without coastal Andhra recipes”, says Ranganath, a visitor from Kurnool.
“Sarvapindi Chekkalu, Chegodeelu, Sakinalu, Palli Garelu, laddulu are unique Telanagana deserts those I enjoyed for the first time along with lunch. I felt like sipping a glass of beer along with those chekkalu and sakinalu and the combination in indeed awesome. Poori with guddu pulusu took me into bliss”, says Raju from Bheemavaram who enjoyed at the T-Food Festival.
“I find this a comedy to draw lines between Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema foods. After all, the tastes of every item in Telangana food festival are same as coastal Andhra foods. Andhra people love biryani that took birth in Telangana. And Telangana people love mukkala pulusu. None can stop the lunch without the climax item- ‘perugu’!!! Then why to draw lines? We can simply change the name of every food festival from Telugus as ‘Telugu food festival’. We can have range of dishes right from Rayalaseema’s raagi sangati to Telangana atukutunakal fry to Andhra Panasapottu koora…How great the idea will be. No state can then beat Telugus in wide range of dishes”, says Sridevi from Rajahmundry who visited the place for lunch.
On a whole, Telangana food festival attracted the attention of many in good sense. Food lovers say that it will be good to have such festivals as frequently as possible.
