Srinivas Kalyanam performed in NJ

Srinivas Kalyanam performed during Grand celebrations of Guruvaayoorappan Temple Anniversary.

We are blessed with Lord Srinivasa’s celestial wedding performed at our temple premises again this year, said Nandu Balija President HATCC Sri Guruvaayoorappan temple.

The temple anniversary celebration is a three days affair. It always starts on Friday evening with Bhagavathi Seva.  It is done in the evening/night.

Devi Bagavathi is invoked  in a Big brass lamp. Puja consists of recital of Lalitha Sahasranama. It is also done by reciting Durga Sahasranama. The lamp looks beautiful at the end of the puja with all the flowers heaped around it. The eleventh chapter of the Devi Mahatmyam is recited at the end of the Bagavathi Sevai. 

This year, our anniversary celebration was held from July 15 to July 17, 2011. On July 15, our priest Mohan Gurukal conducted the Bhagavathi  Seva pooja with great reverence. About 300 devotees participated in the pooja and the pooja was ended with a maha prasadam.

On July 16, we celebrated the Srinivasa Kalyanam, he said. It was celebrated in the same grand manner as it was celebrated last year. The kalyanam started  at 8:30 AM with Sri Venkateshwara Subrabatham. Around 9 AM, the Thomala Seva was performed. Under the Thomala seva, the presiding deity of Lord Srinivasa, festival deities and other deities are beautifully decorated with fresh tulasi and floral garlands. This is done to make the lord happy. Around 11 AM, Srinivasa kalyanam was performed by our priests Venkatesan and Krishna Bhattar in a very grand style. The master of the ceremony of the event  was Sri. Venkatesa Iyengar . Smt. Simanthini Kautha rendered songs of Annamacharya in a melodious and grand style. The way and manner in which our priests conducted the Lord’s marriage was excellent.

Over 3000 devotees attended Srinivasa Kalyanam. Many dignitaries from various temples attended.

We also had in attendance the following government officials:

Assemblyman Mr. Upendra Chivakula, Marlboro Council President Randy Marder, Councilman Frank LaRocca.

After the Kalyanam, the devotees were allowed to have Divya Darshan of the Kalyana Srinivasa unitl 5 PM. 

The day ended with a magnificent cultural program. Every artists who participated in the program were excellent.  Around 400 to 500 devotees attended the program. At 8:30 Pm, the priests ended the event by performing  the Sayanotsavam to Lord Srinivasa. 

On July 17, we performed the Sudarsana homam at 10 AM.  The performance of the Sudarshana Homam grants the performer health, wealth and prosperity. Every annivasary, we perform this homam. Around 300 devotees attended to get the blessings of Lord Narayana.  The program concluded with a maha prasadam served to the devotees.

Over 200 volunteers and 20 committees have worked hard to accomplish the anniversary celebrations, said Nandu Balija. By divine grace of Sri Guruvaayoorappan and Lord Venkateswara the new temple would be open next year June, he added.
