Special Article: H-1B and H4 Jobs

Since the H-1B was introduced in 1990, many families have survived in USA doing manual testing jobs. From 2020, these jobs started becoming scarce due to introduction of software methodologies like DevOps which focuses heavily on automation testing. Automation testing needs good programming skills. Nowadays many clients want hybrid software testers who are proficient in both manual and automation testing skills.

An alternative to automation testing for employees who are not interested in programming is a career as Data Analyst. A Data Analyst typically goes through large volumes of data in an organization to clean the data for duplicates, find patterns in data e.g., sales date to help the organization make business decisions.

Most Data Analysts use Tableau or Microsoft Power BI to do data analysis. Very few technical Data Engineers use programming languages like R, Python and SAS.

Many companies like Goldman Sachs have strictly started enforcing hybrid office schedule initially this year and employees were supposed to come to office for two or three days. Many employees were also unhappy when a company had few teams which were 100% remote and few teams which needed to follow hybrid work policy.

There has been intense pushback and mass resignations from employees in this booming job market when companies started enforcing these kinds of policies. According to Dr.Fauci of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, there may be a surge of covid cases again in mid-September this year as many Americans are still unvaccinated due to their personal or religious beliefs.

Due to various reasons like the above, many end clients are continuing their 100% remote work policies for many IT contractors and few employees. This is a once in a lifetime, extended opportunity for H4 and H-1B employees who have good technical skills but are limited to finding new job opportunities due to location constraints.
