ICC has organized it's annual walkathon event "Sevathon-2011" at Baylands Park, Sunnyvale, California. More than 1000 runners and walkers were participated in the event.
Aim of Sevathon is to build awareness about non-profit organizations and to help them to raise money through a common infrastructure. More than 40 Non profit organizations were joined ICC to make this event successful.
Sankara Eye Foundation used to organize annual walkathon every year. But since last year, Sankra Eye foundation has also joined hands with Sevathon. Many Sankara Eye Foundation volunteers involved in Sevathon registration, track management, marketing & publicity areas. Jaya Prakash Ammu, Sumanth Raja Gopal, Murali and Raghotham has played a major role in track management & registration.
At Sevathon-2011 Sankara Eye Foundation has raised funds for Sankara Eye Hospital in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. So far more than one lakh free eye surgeries have been conducted at Guntur Sankara Eye Hospital. SEF Focus-AP co-orinator Venkat Maddipati said "glad to be part of Sevathon and privileged to see all non profit organizations at one place" and he requested participants to donate money for any Sankara Eye Foundation hospitals to eradicate curable blindness in India. Ram Das, Sudheer Chemudugunta, Visala Maddipati, Subhadra and other SEF volunteers were also there at SEF booth to build awareness about SEF and other non-profits.
Along with the run in good weather, all runners enjoyed cultural programs performed by kids and people from various parts of India.
Everyone wearing freedom fighters white cap on their head had became a highlight of the Sevathon event.
