Sankar Bandi Announces Candidacy for City Council Ward 5

June 2, 2010 – Rochester, MN -- Sankar Bandi, a Rochester resident for the past 11 years, is announcing his intention to run for a seat on the Rochester City Council. Bandi’s unique background and experiences will offer a different perspective for the Rochester community.

Bandi has a bachelor’s degree in computer science.  He and his wife, Aruna, both work in Information Technology at Mayo Clinic.  They have two daughters, ages 10 and 6, who attend Rochester public schools.  He also is a small business owner and is aware of the challenges that brings.

Bandi believes in strong accountability and transparency for public taxpayer dollars and in building safer and stronger neighborhoods. “Every neighborhood needs to be a great neighborhood,” Bandi says.

In India, Bandi was elected the first ever Rotaract club president in his community of Pulivendula. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women.  This experience instilled a desire to give back to the community.

“I appreciate the opportunities Rochester has offered to me and my family,” Bandi said. “As your City Councilman, I will do my best to represent your issues and concerns and together we will make our city even better.”
