Revanth Reddy Comments Hindu Gods: BJP On Fire

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ignited widespread controversy after making some remarks mocking Hindu deities and traditions during a public address.

The Congress leader reportedly questioned the Hindu faith by saying, “How many gods do Hindus believe in? Three crore? Why so many? One god for the unmarried in the name of Hanuman. Another for those who marry twice. And another for those who drink alcohol. Some other goddesses for those who wish to eat non veg and some other dieties for those who eat dal.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party was quick to react, accusing Reddy of exposing the Congress party’s “inherent Hinduphobic DNA.”

In a strongly worded statement on X (formerly Twitter), the BJP’s official handle declared that the Chief Minister had “crossed every line of decency” by spewing venom against Hindu deities from a public platform.

The party described the comments as a deliberate and targeted insult aimed at deriding centuries-old Hindu traditions and humiliating millions of devotees.

BJP leaders and supporters argue that such statements are not mere jokes or slips of the tongue but reflect a deeper ideological bias within the Congress ecosystem.

They allege that mocking Hindu beliefs has become a pattern for the party, used as a tool to polarise communities and garner political mileage.

The incident has triggered sharp reactions across social media, with #Hinduphobia and #ApologiseRevanth trending as devotees and political observers demand an unconditional apology.

Critics assert that a Chief Minister ridiculing the faith of the majority population is unbecoming of constitutional office and deepens societal divisions.

As the controversy escalates, pressure mounts on the Congress leadership to rein in its leaders and clarify its stance on respecting India’s diverse religious sentiments.

For now, Revanth Reddy’s remarks stand as a stark reminder of the growing unease over perceived intolerance or take-it-easy approach toward Hindu traditions in certain political quarters.
