I was reading some articles posted on websites about the filthy politics in American Telugu Associations. What's happening in our Telugu society? I hate to say, but I was so depressed that we have so many differences even after coming to USA or any other foreign country. I think there is some problem in our Telugu blood. From day 1 after I came to USA back in 2000 for my masters, I hear these pretty terms TANA and ATA, and they still sound foreign to me. I never feel so close to those terms as the stories I hear about either ATA or TANA never encouraging. And now I am listening to these dog fights.
I am not sure about the agenda of any particular organization TANA or ATA, but I am assuming this should be for the welfare of Telugu people in USA when in need. And also to make younger ones acquaint with our culture and sustain the same.
I'm now addressing the TANA and ATA groups. Are you guys really concerned about this and are you guys doing enough of it. All you guys concerned about manipulation of funds or who is eating bigger pie. I assume you guys either are docs or having established businesses by now after staying years here and this can be done by any Indian with moderate intelligence. We already have a divide between TANA and ATA. Each group is trying to show up as the sole organization representing our Telugu people in USA. But are you guys trying to convince us? I hear sometimes you guys build hospitals in India. Dudes! That's good but you try to put your head here as well. When I was studying Masters, one of the students from another university got murdered in Detroit; did you guys even release a press statement? Or help the family back in India for sending the body? Forget about that, recently another two Indians students (Sowmya & Vikram) murdered in St Louis, do you guys know it?? Did you guys help in it? We as alumni contributed and send some money for their speedy transfer of body to India. I never see a statement or any help extended by either TANA or ATA regarding this. Anyhow you guys are busy solving your problems. I feel TANA and ATA are suffering from eunuchism and impotency.
And another question, I wanted to ask, why the heck TANA marched for TDP 'meekosam' success yatra? Is TANA representing only TDP? Then why the heck you wanted people from all sectors to join in this TANA? Remember guys, even when YSR was in opposition party when he came to Detroit he politely said, "Whatever differences we have India, it's between us (YSR and CBN). I (YSR) am not saying don't put the funds when CBN is ruling. Development efforts should go on whoever ruling".
I request you guys, open up your voice. Stand for us when in need like what happened to my juniors 3 weeks ago. Cops and authority gives importance to the case when there is a substantiated uproar from the community. I would like to see either TANA or ATA with sectors in individual cities rather than Dallas Telugu association, or St Louis Telugu association.
