Ravi awarded ‘Award for Community Service’ by UFICA

Mr. Ravi Koneru has been awarded this year’s ‘Award for Community Service’ by UFICA

Independence Day of India Mela and Parade was celebrated in Los Angeles, CA in a big way at the Lakewood High School Open Grounds on Saturday, the 11th August 2007.

Thousands of Indians attended the Celebrations with high energy and enthusiasm making the event a super success.  UFICA – United Federation of Indo Americans of California organizes this event every year on the eve of the Indian Independence Day.  Bollywood star Celina Jaitley was the Grand Marshal and Mahima Choudary was another special guest in addition to several other VIPs.

It was a very special occasion for the Telugu people too.  Mr. Ravi Koneru of Los Angeles has been awarded this year’s ‘Award for Community Service’ by the Organization recognizing him for his outstanding support and involvement in all the Community events in the area.  His inclination to community service and extending support to all cultural events was highly admired by the Committee.  Celina Jaitley presented the Award to Mr. Ravi and congratulated him.  On a special note, Mr. Anil Mahajan, Secretary of UFICA stated how Mr. Ravi is associated with this Organization and several others and always came forward to help whenever required and also promote our rich Cultural heritage. 

Indians from almost all the states speaking different languages came over to the venue and enjoyed the festive occasion.  Several stalls were set up at the Venue grounds including Food, live entertainment, Health fair, Arts and Cultural Programs. 

The UFICA Committee including the Chariman - Dr.Ghadasali, President - Ashok Patnaik, Secretary - Anil Mahajan, Vice-Presidents - Dr. Vinod Vineet and Niraj Agnihotri, Trustee - Harish Dhruv took an active part and lead the Celebrations with perfect planning and coordination.
