Ponnala sees contracts in IT projects, too

With a string of innovative e-governance projects in its kitty, Andhra Pradesh has been attracting global attention and winning international contracts for collaboration.

The latest in the series are the forthcoming agreements with governments of Mauritius, Poland and Israel for transfer of technology related to e-governance. The state government would soon enter into agreements with these countries in this regard, the Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said.

AP has been a pioneer in several e-governance initiatives in the country. Its “e-Seva” scheme, a one-stop platform offering a gamut of government-to-citizen services, has been the most popular one.

“Officials from Israel have already visited the state to study our e-governance programmes and have decided to adopt them in their country. Similarly, Mauritius and Poland too have evinced interest in the e-governance initiatives,” the Minister said adding that Sri Lanka was also in touch with the government to replicate “e-Seva” and other citizen services in the island nation.

The IT and Communications Department would organise a two-day international event "Advantage AP IT Summit-2011" at Hyderabad from March 1 to showcase the state’s potential as the best destination for investments in IT and IT-enabled services sectors.

"The aim of the event is to make Andhra Pradesh the most-preferred IT destination in the country. The state has been proactive in attracting investments in IT\ITES sectors with its investor-centric policies," Lakshmaiah said.
