Party's over for city-based IT firms

City-based IT firms may have sailed through the recession but they cannot party just yet. And it has nothing to do with firms still being extra cautious with their money.

Well, free biscuits and cookies have returned to the recession-hit cafeterias of plush IT offices and seeing the spring in their companies' footsteps, employees expected that their annual bashes would be bigger and better this year. But the party dream hit a roadblock.

The on and off Telangana stirs in the city have made event managers and caterers jittery and they have now started putting forth various conditions making it difficult for IT firms to organise their annual bashes.

So, if until last year event organisers would strike open-ended deals with IT firms giving them the option of re-scheduling their event if need be, the string of bandhs has changed the way they do their business. They have either declined to hold any event this year or have laid a condition: in case the bash is cancelled, they wouldn't return the money already paid to them to hold the event. 'T'rying times indeed.
