Parents' Angry On 'Sramadanam' Of School Children

That parents are sticklers for cleanliness and children love the mess around them is a global reality. But some parents are suddenly unhappy with a ‘cleanliness’ project that their children have been asked to undertake by their school.

Well, some city schools, in an attempt to impart more than just “textbook” lessons to its students seem to have taken a leap of sorts - to the temple town of Tirupati. They are sending their students to Tirupati not to offer prayers but to clean Lord Venkateshwara’s home. Some city schools have been arranging these “trips” for their students for sometime now with their students armed with brooms and mops cleaning the temple.

While schools might feel it is a much needed charity lesson for children, parents aren’t too convinced with this extra-curricular activity and would prefer to have their child believe that “charity begins at home’’.
