YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is being accused of indulging in petty politics when he announced his decision not to attend the foundation ceremony of Amaravathi.
The TDP is criticizing Jagan for his attitude which is really surprising. Why was the TDP silent when Chandrababu did not invite Jagan for the boomi-puja?
In fact, even for Chandrababu’s swearing-in ceremony, Jagan’s office was sent an invitation card only at the last minute.
Amid all the dazzle and glamor, by making the foundation ceremony a real extravaganza, Naidu is trying to cover up the tears and pain behind Amaravathi: the pain and tears of the farmers who were forced to part with their lands, not an acre or two but 33000 acres.
The environmental bodies have also warned of severe consequences if the fertile agriculture lands were destroyed. But does Naidu care?
Reportedly, the YSRCP cadre in Godavari districts is upset at Jagan’s decision to not visit the ceremony. They want Jagan to change his mind so that they can be part of the ‘historic event’.
For the record, it was the Godavari districts where Jagan’s party fared very badly in the elections and contributed to TDP’s win. But Jagan might not change his mind.
In the last elections, when he was advised to make the promise of loan waiver, he refused saying that it was not feasible. Naidu did and won the election.
Naidu has not only failed to keep his loan waiver promise, he has also waived off the livelihoods of farmers with his bizarre land pooling across the state.
Jagan in not attending the function is doing the right thing by standing up for what he believed in.
