Jaya Prakash Narayana has been actively touring in USA since last week and I met him at the meeting held at Royal Albert Hall, NJ on Friday the 7th, 2010.
I was there with high enthusiasm wanting to see JP and hear what he has got to say on the questions raised by us. But to the fact, the meeting was subtle except for the good starters, main course & Mango pulp ice-cream as desert!
No doubt he is a good spokesperson, intellectual and can talk on large variety of issues but I observed he has an inch of leadership, pinch of politician, a scaled administrator but nothing huge to make a strong impact on the masses. He is philosophically determined to do something to this society but categorically insufficient to be a Leader. I might be wrong but this is my perception after meeting him.
His ideology is limited to the elite people and from his own words he supports it and believes that intellectuals and learned can only make proper choices to bring a change in the society which is debatable. Apart from this his insight on few sensitive areas and current issues is very commendable and shrewd. One example on Telangana: For the last 30 years on steady growth Telangana has been growing faster than the average state growth rate and the current per capita income of a person from Telangana is higher than else where in the state.
One-thing should be said! Kudos to him for leaving a bounty job and sacrificing many luxuries in life for the sake of helping the society and it takes a Billion to take such decisions and having said that & above, we can always comment but not take the charge. So, I feel it is our minute responsibility to pat his shoulder and make him a mass leader which he is currently deprived of. After all a Mass in politics is the number of head count and not those illiterate people below the poverty line who we normally assume the Mass to be.
JP will be visiting different cities in the USA over the next few weeks. Please make an attempt to meet him if he is visiting your city.
PS: I personally admire Chiranjeevi but also support Chandrababu Naidu for his excellent administration skills and YS Raja Sekhar Reddy as a politician. End of the day we need politicians irrespective of the parties who would benefit our society.
Best Regards,
