It’s Valentine’s Day on Monday -- a happy occasion for love birds across the world. It’s a day of new promises, new bonds and new hopes.
Perhaps, it’s a special day for political parties in Andhra Pradesh, too. Of late, there has been realignment of political forces in the state with parties of different ideologies falling in love. Of course, there are instances of separations and divorces as well.
The new found love between the Congress party and the Praja Rajyam Party is now the talking point everywhere. Till the other day, PRP was like any other opposition party and its president Chiranjeevi used to take out rallies and holding road shows attacking the failures of the Congress government. Now, he has deeply fallen in love with the Congress party; he might have definitely got a promise from the latter that after the marriage, he would get a due share in the properties and made head of the family, at least in the state.
At the same time, the Congress party is also sending love signals to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana region. Though, TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao is also silently in love with the Congress, he is not in a position to express it openly because there would be revolt in his family (read TRS) if he marries the Congress without getting any promises. He wants the Congress to set up a “chinnillu” (a separate small house: read Telangana) first and then send the marriage proposal.
The Telugu Desam Party is already in deep love with the Left parties and both are moving together hand in hand. But TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is such a person who does not trust anybody. So, he always has doubts over the Communists, who may dump him anytime and embrace new forces. Thus, it is not a true love at all.
And talking about separations and divorces, former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is looking for new love partners after deserting the outdated Congress. He is young, charming and dynamic and so, many leaders from other parties are being attracted towards him. He is also making overtures to potential lovers.
Let us see how long these realigned political forces keep up faith in their respective partners!
