
North America Telugu Society (NATS) is organizing NTR's 89th Birthday Celebrations in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 27th, 2012.
Honorable Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, Dr. Daggubati Purandeswari will be the chief guest for the event. Triple Guinness Book Record Holder, Ghazal Maestro Dr. Ghazal Srinivas, who is the brand ambassador for NATS, will be entertaining the audience with his mesmerizing, world class performance.
NATS invites NTR fans as well as the entire telugu community in Greater Los Angeles area to attend this event filled with cultural activities, NTR speeches, mono action, NTR videos, Photo exhibition and more. This event will be organized at Cabrillo High School in Long Beach and starts at 5 PM. Admission is free and dinner buffet will be provided. On this occassion, NATS organized Volleyball Tournaments 2012 in association with Telugu Association of Southern California (TASC) and Tri-Valley Telugu Association that took place in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 19th, 2012.
28 teams participated in this event with over 200 participants. Qualifying rounds were held in four different places - Valley, Arcadia, Torrance and Irvine. Two teams from each place qualified for the next round of games which were held at Victor Park, Torrance.
The participants were very energetic and the competition was intense. Irvine Lions - 2 Team won the Championship and the Runners were Torrance Torpedos. NATS Director Dr. Veeraiah Chundu and TASC President Vijay Bhaskar Nekkanti started the event and stressed on the importance of such sporting events that would increase the contact and a sense of togetherness among the telugu community.
NATS Executive Committee member Prasad Papudesi, TASC EC members Shyam Gumdala and Benerjee Sunkavalli addressed the participants about the importance of health and fitness awareness. Regional co-ordinators Chandu Nangineni, Sreedhar Addanki, Ram Yalamanchili and Sumanth Vydana who were key to the success of the event, were also involved in planning and coordination.
Several volunteers including Danji Thotapalli, Suresh Ayanampudi, Shashi Pandiri, Hari Madala, Krishna Samanthula, Sreeni Komirisetty, Srinivas Killada, Suresh Akunuru and Suneel Ralangi helped NATS in making this event a huge success. The Championship will be awarded by Dr. D. Purandeswari.
