Not Right, Your Holiness!

Not Right, Your Holiness!

Ever since Tibet was invaded by China, India has provided shelter to its Dalai Lama and Tibetans and thereby shown its spirit of friendliness.

The Dalai Lama having made India his base has been fighting for the cause of Tibet by travelling across the globe.

As a valued guest of India, one would have expected the Dalai Lama to not interfere in the domestic affairs of the country or comment on the politics of India.

But at a recent event, he shocked one and all by saying that the Bihar election results had shown that a majority of Indians still believed in harmony.

Responding to a query on the debate over “rising intolerance“, he said, “A few problems can be there but India has stood by its value system of secularism and harmony. Bihar elections have proved that majority of Indian people still believe in harmony.”

He however refused to elaborate, saying, “I am the longest staying guest of India and do not want to get into its politics.”

Having made a highly controversial political statement, the Dalai Lama then says that he does not want to get involved in the politics of India.
