News Scan: Shameless fellows!

The political wrangling between the ruling Congress and the Opposition; and between Sakshi and the other two dailies has crossed all limits of decency. Both the camps are using the foulest language to run down each other and in the process, exposing each other's murky background before the public.

There is no banner news other than Sakshi-Herigate-Satyam fraud in the three dailies on Wednesday. Andhra Jyothy and Eenadu continued to attack Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son Jaganmohan Reddy for resorting to fraud in his companies. Andhra Jyothy did a follow-up story on foreign exchange act violation by Sakshi daily, quoting market experts' comments and also carried another box item on the fake address of a fictitious company that invested in Sakshi. On the other hand, Eenadu did its own special story on flow of investments in Raghuram Cements (which recently changed its name to Bharati Cements Corporation, in the name of Jagan's wife) from high profile cement companies of the country at astronomical share value.

Sakshi, however, made the Chief Minister's counter attack on Chandrababu Naidu in the Assembly as its banner story with headline "Ika Aapai Babu' (Stop it Babu), in which YSR made a series of allegations against Naidu, his links with Heritage and Satyam and also Ramoji Rao. The headline, however, looks like asking the TD to stop its tirade against Sakshi.

Andhra Jyothy carried a lead story on YSR accusing Naidu of "shamelessly" harping on the "shameless" writings of the daily against Sakshi. In fact, Sakshi also made this "shameless" mention in  its banner story. In a counter-attack, Andhra Jyothy carried a front page editorial saying "Siggulenidevariki? (Who is shameless?), defending its stories and also Naidu for raising it in the Assembly.

Eenadu and Sakshi, however, also carried Naidu's reply to YSR's criticism. While Eenadu report quoted Naidu as saying that YSR was caught red-handed, Sakshi report says Naidu had admitted that his son Lokesh was a batch mate of Ramalinga Raju's son and that he had taken party fund from Satyam.

Both Eenadu and Sakshi also carried a totally unrelated story: that of Supreme Court indicting CBI of being an agent of the Centre in withdrawing case against Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Sakshi published another story on Chiranjeevi's helplessness in giving party tickets to women members on the basis of population.
