Helping hands are better than praying lips. NATS, the premier service national organization for Telugu Community proved this again by sticking to their word and helping Archana Gambiraopet.
NATS championed the efforts to help Archana, who was seriously injured in a road accident last year (November 12, 2010) in USA.
It’s already been 1 year for the unfortunate accident that occurred for twin sisters Archana and Arpana (who hails from Hyderabad) who were pursuing their Masters Degree in U.S.A. Arpana died in that accident and Archana was severely injured.
Due to the major injury to the spinal cord, she has been paralyzed below her shoulders. Currently, Archana is undergoing treatment and therapy at Kessler Rehab Institute, West Orange, NJ.
After hearing this heart throbbing incident, NATS took an active role to help out Archana by raising funds to help Archana. During the recently concluded NATS 2011 – America Telugu Sambaralu event in New Jersey, NATS reached out to Telugu Community to help Archana, especially NATS Youth Committee played a key role in bringing this cause to peoples notice.
Many Donors and NATS members generously pledged their support for the cause and so far NATS donated over 31,000 thousand dollars to Archana. Recently, they donated another 6,820.00 dollars to Archana. NATS delegation comprising of NATS Executive Committee, Board of Directors and NATS NJ chapter visited Archana’s house recently to provide moral and financial help and presented the check to Archana’s family. Coincidentally it happens to be Archana’s birthday and she celebrated her birthday with her family and NATS Team.
Archana’s father, Mr.Ravinder Gambiraopet informed NATS team that Archana would be graduating on 10th December 2011 and she will be accepting her twin sister Arpana’s Masters Degree (posthumously) on the same day.
Murray State University (the university where they both did their Masters in Chemistry) will be naming a student award “Arpana & Archana Gambiraopet Campus Impact Award” in their honor during the University’s Annual Diversity Achievement Awards Reception on Friday, April 13, 2012. This year, Aparna will be awarded with the same award and ssubsequently, thereafter every year Archana will give away this award to one of the eligible outstanding international students.
NATS spent time with Archana’s family and assured job & immigration assistance to Archana’s brother. The following NATS delegation - Dr.Madhu Korrapati, Gangadhar Desu, Mohana Krishna Mannava, Sreedhar Appasani, Vimal Kavuru, Srinivas Maddali, Raj Allada, Venu Palyam, Murali Krishna Medicherla, Vishnu Aluru, Ranjit Chaganti, Srihari Mandadi, NRC Naidu, Murthy Gulivendula, Ramaswamy Gummadi, Sambayya Kotapati, Hari Bungathavula and Chaitanya Peddu visited Archana’s house.
