Musk Says He 'Regrets' His Posts About Trump

Tech billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday expressed regret over some of his recent social media posts directed at U.S. President Donald Trump, which had fueled a highly publicized fallout between the two former allies.

The feud brought an abrupt end to what had been a close partnership, one that saw Musk take the lead of the budget-cutting Department of Government Efficiency under Trump’s second administration.

The dispute has raised market concerns over the future of Musk’s business ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX.

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk posted on X, the social media platform he owns.

The conflict was triggered by Musk’s strong opposition to Trump’s proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” — a major tax and spending bill backed by the White House.

By Saturday, Musk had already deleted some of the inflammatory posts that had intensified the dispute. Among the removed posts was a claim accusing Trump of being listed in documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — an allegation the White House firmly denied.

The confrontation played out across both X and Truth Social — the platforms owned by Musk and Trump, respectively.

At one point, President Trump even suggested the possibility of terminating government contracts and subsidies that benefit Musk’s companies.
