Media Slogan: 'Chaavu Kooda Pellilaantide Brother!'

The presence of media is very essential in today’s world and in a way, this would enable the society to keep itself updated about what is happening in the world and change with the times. However, the entire definition of media changes when it comes to Andhra Pradesh. Many say that it is more of a money making machine and for some it is just a means to increase the influence and strength of powerful people.

Now, coming to the media, all events are same for them irrespective of its sensitivity and privacy. Take for instance, the live coverage of the last journey of Kota Prasad, son of the senior Kota Srinivasa Rao. Each and every instance of the dark moments were captured live by the media till the funeral pyre was lit.

While this could come as a surprise to many, here is the positive side. It is reported that many people are getting connected with such sort of events and watching it live on their TV screens is a different experience. In a way, the media seems to believe strongly in giving a reality show and even if it is the death of someone, it ends up getting attention like it is a wedding.

It is not a surprise then that the great Sri Sri has mentioned in one of the lyrics of his song for the film ‘Aakali Rajyam’ that in the free country, even death is like marriage. While the people are experiencing the flavor of this emotion just like they are watching a cinema, it must be kept in mind that what they are seeing is real life.

Perhaps it may not be a pleasant feeling when one is going through the same and is seeing flashlights and video cams all around. It is good to see that one has access to such realistic situations right with the click of a remote control and the electronic media would gain better points if they could focus on some productive and progressive issues as well.
